PP3D Polypropylene is a filament developed by the famous Spanish brand Recreus in collaboration with Repsol. It is a high impact Polypropylene, with high chemical resistance, very easy to print, and long lasting.
The Recreus PolyPropylene Filament comes with an innovative “primer” to fix it to the base, the development of this fixing primer has also been developed by Recreus in collaboration with Repsol, to be applied on the heated base before printing.
By combining both materials, the bonding primer and Recreus PP3D Polypropylene, you will achieve maximum adhesion at a base temperature of only 40 ºC, and avoid unwanted effects such as Wapring or deformations.
Characteristics of PP3D Polypropylene
We are talking about a filament with exceptional fatigue resistance, high levels of toughness, and a low friction coefficient. Polypropylene is a reference material when creating both final parts and prototypes.
Finish
PP3D offers a matte finish, which resembles the printed part to injection moulded parts. The result is a high quality, matt, printed part, in which the layers are barely noticeable.
- Good flowability
- Immediate adhesion thanks to the adhesion primer that comes with the material.
- Creation of functional prototypes, made of the same material as the final product.
- High chemical resistance. Resists a wide range of acids and bases, including industrial cleaning agents.
- Very light weight
- Retains its shape after bending
- Enables the printing of airtight containers

Applications of PP3D Polypropylene
This material allows you to expand the possibilities of 3D printing. We have mentioned that it allows the creation of functional prototypes, with the same material as the final product, it also allows the creation of airtight containers, let’s see more possibilities offered by PP3D:
- Bottles and containers as functional prototypes, as it can contain a liquid product.
- Any part that requires low friction and heat resistance.
- Parts that need to be watertight, i.e. parts that need to prevent leakage of the elements to be retained.
- Mechanical components
- Parts whose final objective is to act as an electrical insulator, given their good electrical resistance.
- Tools, industrial parts…
PP3D + Adhesion primer
As we have already mentioned, the Polypropylene filament spool comes with a bottle of adhesion primer. It is important to combine them when printing to achieve optimum results. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Open the primer bottle and apply to the printer base.
- Let it stand for about 5 minutes so that the primer can dry.
- Set the bed to 40 ºC (no more, as this could affect the part and deform it).
- Once the part is finished, heat the bed to 85ºC to be able to peel off the part.
Note: the primer can be used for 1 or 2 more prints. Simply heat the bed to 40ºC when you make a new print and heat it back up to 85ºC when the print is finished to peel it off.
