SMARTFIL® GLACE is a thermoplastic polymeric material (PVM) filament.
It offers a feature that until now has been difficult to obtain, but with SMARTFIL® GLACE it is possible to ”Transparency”.
In addition to transparency, depending on the post-processing, other finishes can be obtained such as: pearlescent effect by polishing the material.
The 3D printing temperature of SMARTFIL® GLACE is 205-235 ºC, with an average temperature of 220 ºC
It doesn’t need a warm bed. In the case of having a warm bed, a temperature between 0-70ºC is recommended.
The format presented by SMARTFIL® GLACE is 750g.
Features
The SMARTFIL® GLACE filament offers high mechanical performance that surpasses ABS. On the other hand, it is a material that accepts machining and can achieve quality finishes.
SMARTFIL® GLACE offers a high adhesion between layers, giving the 3D model a 100% watertightness.
With the polishing technique, different finishes can be achieved on 3D printed parts with SMARTFIL® GLACE:
Transparent
To obtain a transparent model it is necessary to apply a polishing of the piece with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol with a concentration higher than 70ºC.
It is recommended to use a 0.8mm nozzle or more and an inner filling of the spiral part (spiral vase). This results in high transparency and mechanical strength. The number of layers to be used is 1.
Perl Effect
This finish is achieved by applying only polishing on its entire surface. Not only is a fine and clean surface achieved, but it also acquires a natural pearl tone.
One of the great advantages of SMARTFIL® GLACE is that it does not have a ”Warping Effect”, allowing you to make large and complex 3D prints.
Cautions
SMARTFIL® GLACE is a filament sensitive to high temperatures, so it is advisable not to keep it for a long period of time in the extruder (it can cause clogging).
