Titan: a new generation extruder for the 3D printer

Strength, precision and power
The gear reduction is developed for Titan to push with impressive power, while being incredibly light and compact.
The high thrust gear ratio means it is able to use lighter motors as it will need less torque to push the filament with the same force. This makes the moving carriage of the extruder, in direct extrusion, lighter and in bowden reduces the space taken up by other systems.
Titan fits perfectly into E3D’s modular ecosystem, Titan works for all bowden, direct extrusion, 1.75 mm and 3 mm configurations.
To change filament diameters only the filament guide has to be changed, both the 1.75 mm and 3.00 mm are included in the package.
To use Titan as a Bowden extruder you just insert a Bowden adapter into the body instead of a hotend.
Bowden adapters of 3mm or 1.75mm are available at a low optional extra cost.
The Titan’s balanced 3:1 gear ratio offers the power to cope with fast extrusion situations with Volcano, and agile retractions.
Direct drive extruders can have problems with ‘pulse’ flow, because at higher resolution the filament extrusion results in the extrusion of filament in the form of pulses. This results in a slightly wavy surface finish, and is particularly prevalent when printing at low layer heights. The use of a 3:1 gear ratio triples the resolution of the system and allows trouble-free printing at the lowest of layer heights, with the smallest of nozzles.
The filament’s path through Titan is fully guided by the extruder, ensuring smooth travel, ideal for flexible filaments. The extruder also has ample strength for stiffer and harder filaments.
Reliable and repeatable
Titan’s adjustable tension allows use with all currently available filaments.
Furthermore a tension force indicator scale allows you to set the tension of the tensioner to a known and repeatable set point.
This means that you can always set Titan back to a known tensile strength for each of the filament types.
Easy extrusion, easy maintenance
Titan is made of injection moulded plastic so it is light in weight, being an accessible extrusion system, so that the small filament fragments detached during extrusion will be removed from the side in a clean way, presenting also an easy access to clean the gear wheel.
Titan can be disassembled and assembled in less than a minute, easily and quickly.
